First Post: Getting Ready

Exploring new places and trying new things have always been my favorite things to do, so taking a year off from school and doing my favorite thing to do sounds like a pretty awesome year. How much better can it get? After the trip I’m going to be 12 and already have traveled to 6 continents! For ten years my family has been dreaming of this trip. But now, we need to kick it into gear because the days are winding down, and this trip is now officially a reality.

There are still many things to be taken care of before the trip. One of the main things on my to do list is making the most out of my last few days here on  Mercer Island.  To spend as much time with the people and things that I’m not gonna be seeing for one whole year. And just because I’m saying goodbye to school, I’m still keeping up with my school work. That’s the other thing on my to do list… figuring out how I can keep up with math, find a way to teach myself Spanish, finding what books I can read, and all that fun stuff that I’m so exited about.

Once I told one person at school about this trip, it spread pretty fast. The next day people who I barley knew would ask me about the trip. Eventually  there was a rumor that I was going to sail around the world which I was told by one of the TA’s at my school who was from a completely different classroom. A lot of my friends say that it is bad that I am missing 6th grade, but I think they are just wishing they could come too 🙂
